1989 760 turbo - washer fluid problem!

Hello!
My hubby is deployed and I need some help. The garage we had been taking the Volvo to has closed down, and I really don't know who to go to (two very bad experiences with local repair shops has made me very wary!). The nearest Volvo dealership is more than 100 miles away, and I don't think we can afford dealership prices for repairs on such an old car, even though I love her to pieces. Besides, I'm nervous about driving so far in winter with no windshield washer fluid. One or two of the neighbor guys have offered to help, but I'd much rather fix this myself if I can at all. Partly because I once had a 'guy' mess up my car's heater system (not much help!) and partly because I'm very cautious about being a 'damsel in distress' when it's common knowledge that I'm on my own. (gosh, I sound paranoid, don't I? [&:])
The washer fluid reservoir is leaking, as in we pour fluid in and it runs out onto the ground. The 'washer fluid' warning light on the dash does not come on. There doesn't seem any way to access the bottom of the reservoir without putting the car on a lift, so I was thinking I might be able to take the tank out from above and maybe find the problem. Is it possible to do this with minimal auto-repair skills?
We're in upstate NY and we're looking at 3 more months of wintery weather, so I need to get this fixed. Thanks for any help, or any help you can point me to!

Absolutely you can do it from the top, and it is quite easy. Just pull out the neck, then disconnect the pump and theplug for the level indicatorconnector, pullthe tankout. It is probably cracked due to ice expansion. You can try and fix it by gluing it or get a new one from a junk yard or on ebay...
