Default Drivers side mirror 960

Weirdest thing- driving down the highway the other day, see something move out of the corner of my eye- look back out rear-view and see my side mirror bouncing (shattering) all over the highway...

Just the glass, nothing else. Looks like the glass came un-stuck from the plastic backing. Anyway, I have a new mirror with the backing attached (where the 2 connectors are for the heat), but I can't figure out how to get into the mirror to replace it. I see where the mirror mounts to the door, but I can't see anywhere to open the mirror itself. Anyone do this before?

Thanks-
Brady

There is no way to seperate the mirrior housing...
To get the black matt off where the glass was stuck to you have to remove it carefully. Behind it are 4 platsic clips 2 in the top corner and 2 at the bottom. Press the mirror down so you can see behind it and with a small flat head screwdriver ( eye glass ones work best) un do the clips. Make sure you keep pressure on the side you just unclipped or else it will snap back. Its alot easier if you shine a light back there to see what you are doing. Take your time and dont use too much force because you can snap the housingwhere it attached real easy. I had the same thing happen on my 960 last winter....
