1996 960 Transmission questions
I have a 960 (1996) with 201k miles on it.
End of April the Transmission Arrow light on dashboard started to flash.
Noticed my rpm's reving higher in May...thought it was PNP switch.
Our repair shop (Volvo specialists) says it is the Transmission slipping.
Been driving locally only up to 35mph, no farther than 4 miles one way.
Yesterday she wouldn't go into reverse or even go forward when putting her into those gears. She also sputtered/stutterted (whatever you like to call it) while idling and also while giving her gas. RPMs went to 3-4rpms while giving it gas gradually.
I think it is definitely my transmission....
My one last ditch effort is to put Lucas Trans Fix into it, but I need to know how to do that and access transmission fluid dipstick. (got nothing else to lose at this point)...
My Questions:
> I know where the dipstick is.... HOW do you reach it and to add fluid or trans fix? Do I need to put in on a lift with a jack? Do I need any special tools?
> And, I am selling it (or trying) as is for $1000... it is in great condition, except for the tranny. Do you think this is a reasonable price?
KBB lists a "fair" 960 at $1,925 so I feel like I should be able to get close to have of that....

Need some advice.
So, from what I have read, you never checked the fluid level? The dipstick is under the brake booster. Looks like a square yellow plug, I think it pulls right out, some people get under the car to remove it.
