Default 1996 960 Will Not Start

Hello all,

My volvo 960 has about 145,000 miles on it and has been sitting in a prarking garage for a week. A few days ago, I went to unlock it and I had to do it manually with the key as the battery was not supplying power to the doors. Also, it would not start-- I figured that it was probably a dead battery as none of the lights work, I cannot pull windows down, etc. So I call the police officer for a jump start and it still did not turn on. I am planning to get it towed some time today. Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be?

Thanks in advance.

How old is that battery? I think you are correct the battery is dead, but it may be so dead that a jump might not work. I have experienced the same and it would take about 20 minutes with the cables attached to get even a click.

I would buy a new battery and take it to the car and save the tow.

Where do you live that the police will come and jump your car? Nice benefit.

1+ with DanR. Whenever I get to my car and the doors won't unlock with the remote or all won't unlock with the keys I simply lock the drivers door and go away till I get another battery, charger, or someone willing to jump the car.

When jumping a Volvo, be sure the hook the cables up right or you can do some real damage to the car. The good car/battery should have both cables connected to it. The dead/weak battery should only have the possitve cable connected and the negative cable should be grounded to the motor block.
