Good day all, I have a 92 960 with 230,000 km, in the last 4 months i have been getting an ignition ping, when hot, it is intermittent. Any ideas, I have tried premium fuel, with little change. Does anyone know the location of the detonation sensors or knock sensors, i know there are 2, but have no idea where they are located. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. The engine is a 2.9 inline 6.Thanks

 

The knock sensors are under the intake manifold.
Try a really good valve cleaner through the system and see if that helps.

 

Hello, what type of valve cleaner do you recommend, and does it go in with the fuel?

 

You can get some that goes into the tank like Techron.
You can also use seafoam and carefully suck some into the intake system with the car running. The car will smoke like crazy but that means it is working.
