94 960 Speedometer Stopped working after front brake job
I just picked up my first Volvo. Its a 1994 960 wagon with 24v 6cyl. It runs great but had warped rotors. I had the rotors turned and installed new pads with no problems. After getting back in the car, my speedometer stopped working immediately. I believe the ABS sensor must also be speed sensing and could be causing this problem. I did not spray any fluids when working around the sensor and its still connected. I was putting out a transmission code so i did diagnostics (2-3-2). It reference the speedo not working. After reading the code and restarting the car, the upshift light is no longer flashing and no codes are showing for the fuel system (1-1-1) but i still have no speedo. Could someone advise me on the next step of diagnostics.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, BTW, the car has 308,000 miles but seems to be running perfect. Previous owner died but from what i understand, she maintained the car well. Only maintence that i have performed is replacing the pads/rotors and spark plugs. Both processes were uneventful.
Thanks.

The emergency brake cable snapped and part of the wire was lodged in between the speed sensor in the rear end and the wire harness. I pulled the connector and removed the wire and replugged it. Now everything works fine. thanks for the help. Now its time to figure out why the rear hatch wont open?
