Haven't figured this one out. Can't shift into park position using selector. I can disconnect the shift rod and manually shift into park from below.
Might need an automatic transmission shifter gear selector. Just the part that protrudes above the console floor and makes the gear changes. Mine is falling apart and now I can't get it to shift into park. What surprises me is that I can leave it in neutral, shut it down and remove the key. Finally got the button on the grip to work but same issue. Any ideas?

 

Sounds like the cable (mechanical cable like a bowden or similar) is broken between the ignition lock and the shifter assembly.
