97 960 Died while driving
My check engine light has been on for a little while, I didn't have any chance to actually have it looked at before. When I say a little while about I say about a month. I had a problem sometimes where the car wouldn't shift perfectly into the next gear and I had a arrow lighting up on my dash, while the lights beside my driving Modes (W)inter (S)port (E)conomy on my shifter would constantly light up back and forth. Also in this time, the speedo cut out about 3 times in the whole month. I think this is possibly an unrelated issue to what happened last night though.
I've read in this forum what that problem is, so I'm pretty sure this issue from last night is seperate. I don't think anybody's car would die totally from the above issue.
As I'm driving yesterday I give the car throttle, but no response back from the engine. The car basically died on me and shutoff while driving. It wasn't able to be started again.
I got it towed home and am thinking about what to do with this car. To me it may sound like a bad fuel pump now on top of my other issue that I described earlier. Anyone else experience these issues before? Could it be fuel pump or something easier?
I've changed the heater core on this car last year, along with a new head gasket, new fuel rail and a ton of sensors. Basically I've spent about $4000 dollars on this thing and am not sure if I want to put that much more into it.
As dumb as it sounds, I'm sure I have fuel. My gas gauge hasn't worked for a long time so I track it by KM driven. I've only driven 400 so far and I can get close to 500 easy.
