Ac works intermittently 1996 960
Hello all,
This is my first post since joining. Thanks for letting me join.
I have a 1996 Volvo 960 sedan. The AC was just kind of cool when I bought it. I added another can and it seemed to cool pretty well. Then after a few days, it would cycle off and blow warmer and warmer air out of the vents. I thought it was a fuse or something so I replaced the 5 amp fuse. It worked again ice cold. It's now doing the same thing again. It seems like it works when it wants to! I'm not sure if it is still low on freon or if it is something else. Do you wise men or women know what else may be going on?
Many thanks,
James Veltri

That does seem to be what's happening. It works darn near ice cold when I first turn it on. It could work for a 50 mile drive then quit or it could stop once I get to the end of my street.
This shimming thing:how does one do that? Like a step-by-step directions?
Thanks!
James
