I have a 1985 760 Turbo with about 250k mi (I'm the second owner). This car has a panel to the left of the steering wheel with a headlight ****, front fog light rocker, read fog light rocker, and power antenna rocker. The antenna rocker will not engage, and I suspect it is broken. Is replacement of this switch going to require a full instrument cluster removal, or can I pop off the bezel surrounding the switch panel to access the switches?
Pics from the procedure to follow. In short, I found that the rocker mechanism inside the antenna rocker switch had altered itself. It's a small (maybe 1cm x 2cm) bent copper tab that is supposed to rock back and forth but now just pops off it's hinge point. I applied a bit of electrical tape to hold it in place and the switch works better than before. I was also able to use a rocker switch from NAPA to set the antenna in automatic mode (i.e., up when running, down when ignition off) as a failsafe. cheers
