Default cold starting

My 1989 760 turbo 2.3inj is difficult to start when cold it starts first time every time when warm but when left over night it has to be coaxed into life i have to turn the key and let the engine crank a couple of times and it tries to fire but if it does not catch straight away it does not fire anymore no matter how many times i let it crank over ,if i switch off again and crank the same thing happens if it does not catch on the first couple of cranks it is a waste of time as we are heading towards winter here in the uk i thought i had better try to find out what the problem is and rectify it (hopefully) once it does eventually start (if the battery does not give up first) it runs fine no spluttering misfiring smoke or anything and will start for the rest of the day as good a gold.
any ideas ?
thanks

Default RE: cold starting

Has the throttle body and idle motor been cleaned lately?

Have you checked fuel pressure yet?

If not then start with those 2 things first.
