Default Converting to a 245?

I have a 1976 265 with M46 electric OD. I bought it with the motor having a blown head gasket. Body is 99% rust free with a cool silver/blue patina.

Currently have the rear suspension and brakes rebuilt with new shock, poly bushings and track/panhard bars from IPD. Front suspension will be done soon with the goal of having it be a roller by Spring.

Initial plans were to build a Ford 302 from a 1998 Explorer, use the Explorer rear end and source a T5. Still in the plans, but I didn't anticipate how strong the urge would be to get in and cruise around. Basically I got bit hard by the bug and my budget build is getting out of hand...I'm gonna be $10k into this thing before its done over the next few years...

Looking at a few different options, I can source a b21, b21ft, b230 and b230ft for anywhere from $700-$1200. I can also find another 2.7 V6 for $1300 or a newer 2.8 V6 for $800. Its a bit strange that I can buy a running motor w/ warranty for less than I can get my motor repaired.

I'd like to put in a motor to have it drivable while i continue to build in stages. I like the idea of a turbo, but am dead set on having a V8 rumble (eventually). Ideal situation would be to drop something in that I can sell to recoup some cash down the road. What is the easiest cheapest swap?
