Default Gear position Sensor issue?

Hi all i am new to The VOLVO FORUM. I have a 93 Volvo 960 wagon.
the "wse" switch by the shifter is flashing from one to another to another round and round ...

The car feels like its taking off in 3rd gear. slow like the Clutch is slipping on a manual car .. or in this case the torque converter is failing

I've looked around an found this issue to be related to the failure of the Gear position sensor. yes, no? any thoughts .... any comments

Default chainging the sensor

so im trying to change it..... any advice?... there is 1 bolt to hold it in place and 1 on the output shaft.. and then what ... does it slide off? does it pop of ? its on there very tight. i dont want to damage it any more cause im going to rebuild it.. if i can ever get it off. is it safe to stick a screw driver behind it and pry it off the output shaft?

Default

I bought a cheap screwdriver and heated it with a propance torch until it was red hot. Then I bent it into a curved "pry bar" shape. It has a radius that wraps nicely around an old style quart oil can. I was able to use it to pry the switch off and did not harm the switch or the tranny case.
(Clean your electrical wiring connectors also. Remember it's probably been sitting there and corroding for the past 20 or so years.)
