The transmission on my 1989 Volvo 760 GLE went out and the Volvo tech hasn't been able to find another transmission for it. He said that Volvo only made one transmission for that year and make and so they're hard to come by. The two he has come by in the past week and a half have had metal in them, whatever that means.

To rebuild the transmission I already have will cost me $1450

Any advice? Looks like I should just invest toward another used Volvo . . .

 

Is your car a six cyl or a four turbo?

I believe even the 760 6 cyl uses the AW71, so it should't be too hard to get... Try this:

Wow, this is a big help. It looks like it will fit except it says that it's without a notch for the crank position sensor. What's that about? Thanks!
