i wondered if anyone could shed light on my brake problem. When i depress the brake pedal there is a hissing sound like air escaping and only when i apply the brake with full force does the hissing stop. The brake works fine at all levels of pressure but when I am slowing to a stop it hisses until I depress it fully. (??).

Sounds like you need a brake booster. Or if you're lucky just a vacuum line.

 

There is a vacuum line attached to the stop light switch on the brake pedal, never really had a good look at it, but there have been some posters who have had to replace it because of leaks.
