Maintenance tips for a 960 -95
Hey there!
I'm planning to do a regular service on my Volvo 960 from 1995.
What I intend to change is the fuel filter, the oil filter and the air filter, and I'm wondering if anyone here has any useful tips for doing it.
The oil-filter and air filters are located in the engine compartment, so they shouldn't be too hard. The fuel filter, however, is located under the passenger seat, so I will almost certainly need to raise the car to do the exchange.
Since I've never done this before, my questions are the following:
What kind of tools will I need?
Any tips on how I can stop the fuel from leaking while changing the fuel filter?
Thanks!

When swapping out the fuel filter, it's best to have a plan. Put the car up on jack stands and take a good look. Typically, you will need two wrenches; one to loosen the fuel line and another to hold the filter from turning. Failure to use a "backer" wrench can result in twisted, crimped and even broken fuel lines. Once you have the correct wrenches and filter at hand, get a tray such as one drains motor oil into. This will catch the outflow. Find the fuse that runs the fuel pumps and remove the fuse. Start the car and let it run out of fuel. This will reduce the fuel pressure in the line to nearly zero. Grab your wrenches and work as fast as you safely can. Better to lose a litre of gasoline than a litre of blood!
