Here are some photo's from my first round with the mold/mildew. I used a mixture of 1 cup rubbing alcohol and 1 cup very hot water. I am told that I will most likely have to reapply several more times.

I would probably just try a commercial solvent or something. I'm guessing that if you don't drench the seats in it it wouldn't damage them at all.

no................ Don't use alcohol! That will dry you leather and damage it. The alcohol will change the pH of the leather and you will eventually crack. Go to Walmart and buy antibacterial Baby wipes. That will kill whatever's growing on the leather and then get neatsfoot oil or a good leather conditioner.

I got that recipe from a car interior refurbisher at a Benze place. He said the diluted alcohol would not hurt the leather seats, but would kill the mold. Also was told to fallow up with a leather conditioner.

Leather cracks because of the pH level. You can use alcohol to kill the bacteria, what happens is that the leather absorbs the alcohol and when the water evaporates it leaves the alcohol in the leather nap... That changes the pH and will make the leather stiff in the back. I would say take a clean sponge with filtered water and wipe the leather down a few times and leave the car in the sun to dry. Once dry and the leather is warm, spray Lexol on it. Lexols formula actually will adjust the ph on the leather..
