I've got an issue in my 2007 S40 concerning the air conditioner. After a few minutes of blowing cold air it will shut off and at the same time blow moldy, mildew smelling air.

- The air only smells like mold when this happens.
- the air smells fine if I press the AC button to turn off the AC on my own.
- sometimes it shuts off for 30 seconds, sometimes 10 minutes.

Help! Any thoughts?

 

Check the evap drain on the pax side center console under the carpet. A clogged drain would allow water to sit and mold. Also, have you replaced your cabin air filter before?

I read a thread where the writer described replacing the drain hose as a fix for water leaking onto his carpet. You have any wet carpet issues?
