No start 88 760
Hello,
I bought an 88 760 turbo from a neighbor for cheap 6 months ago.
When i got it the main problem is that it was not starting and would start with starting fliud then run sometimes smoothly and sometimes erratically.
So, i decided to take a look at the tank pump and the strainer was all deteriorated. I replaced the tank pump. the main pump is working fine but i put a new fuel filter on as well. Still it wasnt starting and running well. But plenty of fuel delivery. Pumps are both running strong.
Yesterday i replaced the fuel pressure regulator and problem still persisted. FI relay is clicking fine when turning key. after replacing fuel pressure regulator i was messing around with the air filter and it appears to be brand new. I then inspected the Mass Air Flow sensor, diconnected it and it appeared to be clean. I discovered It could start with the hose disconnected and the MAF sensor disconnected. It would'nt run smoothly though and would cut out. Then I reconnected the MAF sensor and I felt the connection may have been loose previously. The car is now starting and running great!
Does a faulty MAF sensor or faulty connection to it really cause the 760's to not Start or run well? Apparently so, but has any one else encountered this problem/ is this a common no start problem for these cars?
Any info would be handy.
Thanks,
Josh
