Hi all. Need some help.

Recently my rear light went out and when I went to the local Pep Boys they couldn't find a bulb that would fit--even the models specifically for my '96 960. The problem is that most bulbs have two metal nubs (for lack of a better word) sticking out of the base which screw them in place. However, while apparently every bulb out there has nubs 180˚ apart, my old bulb (and the casing it fits into) has the nubs substantially off... maybe 165˚ or so. When I asked the Pep Boys guys they told me they'd never seen a bulb like it. Any advice?
