Problem: Transmission Leak

Hello all. I've done a bit of searching on the topic with no luck, so I come to you for help. The car giving me problems is a 1997 Volvo 960 Wagon with an automatic transmission and somewhere between 120,000 - 150,000 on the odometer. Now the problems is that ATF is leaking from the flywheel check hole coming from the transmission's direction. It only happens when the transmission is in gear and is actually forcing fluid through. My sister and her boyfriend spoke with a Volvo mechanic and he suggested it might be the transmission pump but I'm stumped and I have very limited knowledge on transmissions. Does anybody know what this might be? A bad seal maybe? I am a small time backyard mechanic with decent know-how so if it's something simple I can do it myself. Also, what do you guys think about LucasOil transmission treatment for a problem like this just as a temp fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
