Default Replacing the spark plugs on my 960...

My 960 had NKG plugs in it. I ordered the OEM plugs and they have 3 arms that go towards the center electrode. How do I set the gap on those things? Do I set the gap? The manual says set gap between .024 and .028, is that with these 3 arm plugs as well?

I didn't check gap when I did mine. I just assumed that they were pregapped since they were OEM. I thought with three prongs there shouldn't be miss. Before that I used Bosh with 4 prongs and haven't gap them neither.I could be wrong but it worked fine for me.

I went to a website that explained the theory about the multiple electrodes and they say that the motor chooses the better gapped electrode depending on the load / preformance demand of the motor. So, each electrode is likely gapped differently. Which I did notice when I checked the gap setting on the electrodes when I removed them from the package.

Therefore, I did not mess with the gap and when I started the car it fired right up and ran smoothly. I'll hopefully take it for a drive today. Kinda hard driving 3 cars. :-p

Since installing the spark plugs I have driven the car about 1,200 miles. It runs smoother and a little stronger. Top speed has increased but fuel economy has dropped just a little. Maybe it will improve when they break in.

Maybe fuel economy has dropped just because you were testing top speed?

You may be right. I'll check it again now that I'm back home and have calmed way down.
