Default RPM = MPH ? '95 960 Wagon

Just would like to compare my vehicle to others. 1995 960 Wagon.

65 MPH = 2600 rpms. Just seems way too high for highway cruising. Anyone know what the final drive ratio is and what the Overdrive ratio is? This relationship lends itself to lousy MPG.

No, that is about right. When those cars were manufactured the national speed limit was 55 mph.

Besides that, when I had my '95 and '96 960's, I was getting 21/24 until I purchased my scan gauge. I was getting 24/28 within 6 months.

A few things that I did that may have helped the mileage:
- Full synthetic oil.
- K&N drop in box air filter.
- 91+ Octane fuel.
- Michelin tires Primacy MX4 overinflated 3 psi.
- OEM Volvo spark plugs.
