I bent all the valves, cracked the valve guides etc. in my old engine (tensioner pulley seized, belt had 10k left on it), so it was replaced with a "new" junkyard motor. The motor I put in was making what sounded like lifter noise, so I replaced all 24 lifters.

The engine is still making the same noise, any ideas what it could be? Doesn't sound deep enough to be a rod or main knock.

 

Valves adjusted properly?
Is there the rubber washer looking thing between the valve stem and lifter?
