Switch/Dash/Radio Lights

Switch/Dash/Radio Lights
There are several instrument lights out on the dash of my '97 V90. At least 3 of the switches do not light up as the others do. Does anyone know how to replace the bulbs? Also, my radio (black SC-816) has several lights out. Is this something that can be fixed? My Volvo guy told me that the one on my '00 Cross Country needed to be replaced as it cost too much to fix the back light on the LCD. So, I replaced it via Erie Volvo for $225. The LCD back light on the V90 works but the lights for the radio buttons do not. Also, my gearshift indicator lights do not come on at night. Anyone have any help for me?

RE: Switch/Dash/Radio Lights
I had the same problem. Dealer told me $340 to replace all the burnt out dash and radio lights. I spend about $20 on mini bulbs and changed them myself. The worst was not having the lights on the radio to see what i was doing!
you can buy the acual lights for the dash switches and radio at The Source for about $6 for 3 of them. Make sure youdont buy LED lights, the ones you need are a T3 style. What you need to do is take apart the radio and remove the lights individually. they are in a white holder, and break the wires that hold them in place. Put the new bulb in and wrap the wires around the slots and reinstall them. Its the same with the switches on the dash. The gear shifter light is easy aslo. Its been so long since i changed it on mine, however you have to remove the whole center console assembly, its held in by 2 screws behind the ashtray. Sometimes you find the lights are soldered in to the holders and you may have to "jerry rig" up some way to make it work. useually is just a case orre soldering your own wires/lights to the holder. this is what i did for the rear ashtray light.
