Default dash switch lights

Which of the dash switched should be illuminated when the head lights are on? Presently, the hazard light switch is on. Should all the others be as well?

TIA

Great! Thanks, I have some bulb swaps to do. BTW, I have a Draper "expert" Service Indicator Rest tool, P/N OSR/VOLVO that came with my donor sedan. However, I cannot find an instruction sheet in the paperwork that came with the car, nor doing a google search, can I find one.

Several post indicate that this tool will turn off both the engine service interval light as well as the SRS light. However, just plugging the unit in does nothing. Just a green light on the front.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Got all the switches working so that worked out well. Found the bulbs at radio shack. While doing this job I wondered if anyone here, with a 850 base model, has utlized the rear fog lamp switch to power front fog lamps?

Also, What do the fog lamps for a 1997 850 look like. My car is equipped with the wiring behind the front bumper for the lights, but none were installed at the factory. In addition, the openings on the bumper have small plastic grills installed. The right side also has a tow loop.

Yes I have used the rear fog. They all have the feature, it's a Volvo safety thing. It only lights up one bright bulb on the drivers side, by design. So it doesn't get confused for a brake light.

Thanks for the pictures. Based on this, I'll need to cut holes in the front lower bumper cover to install the lights. I think I will pass on that. Maybe I'll install some small LED strips in the lower grill/vents like some of the new mercedes models. thoughts?

Depends on how "old" you feel. You don't need to get on your back but you do need to get on your knees. If you pop the plug out of the dash you should be able to see if there is a connector there. If that connector is behind the blank in the dash then you might want to make sure you're wired under the bumper by sliding under. You don't need to use a creeper, cardboard keeps you clean and also gives you more clearance.
