Default Transmission question

Hello board, I have a '94 960 2.9 I6. The problem is whether the transmission in E or S the 2nd and 3rd gear comes too late. I mean I have to feather the throttle to force it shift up. Even with light throttle it revs up to 4000. All the gearchanges are smooth, no hesitation when put into R or D, although I hear a high pitched whine when pushing hard and the engine is in high revs (fluid pump, dirty filter?). There are no fault codes stored, neither engine nor tranny codes.
My other problem is an easier fix I think, the driver's power seat works but the memory functions not. When I push the memory button I hear relays click. Any experience what to check first?
Thanks in advance.

Try changing the fluid on the trans and the filter. Also check the kick down cable.Make sure it is not to loose or seized up.

For the power seat try a couple of times to reprogram the seat memory.Sometimes they are stubbord. If not then the switch is most likely bad.

Hi, thanks for the help. I've changed the fluid and the filter, at least the sound went away, but the late shift problem still occurs. I checked the fault codes, and there's one that caught my eye. There were two codes stored, one was caused by a dirty connection (3-1-3), it occured twice in the last few months, when I put the tranny selector into L sometimes it went into limp-home mode. Pulling the circuit breaker for a few secs eliminated the flashing arrow. The other code is quite interesting, I think thats the source of the problem. The code 2-2-3 means that the TPS signal is too low. My other car is a Jaguar and the tranny controll is based on the TPS signal I wonder if the system is similar on the Volvo. Is there only one TPS shared with the engine ECU and the tranny ECU or like on the Jag there are two of them, individual sensors for different ECUs? The engine showed 1-1-1 which is a good sign.
Cheers,

Wal

There is only one TPS on the car.
Have you checked the kick down cable yet?
It should be somewhat tight but not to tight. It shouldn't sag it should be straight with a slight but of tension on it.

Hello, this may sound stupid, but I can't find the kickdown cable. There are two cables on the throttle pulley, one comes from the accelerator pedal and the other one from the cruise control. I'm totally confused now. [&:]
