Default 1994 850 alarm system

Just bought a 94 850 T it does have the alarm system and the keyless entry. When I lock the doors with the remote should the alarm beep? Also the red led on the dash does flash but I opened the door with the system setand the turn signals flash but there is no siren or horn beeping when the alarm is activated HELP?

No, the alarm does not beep.

Once you lock the doors, the LED pyramid will go solid red, which indicates the alarm has activated. My car might be different though because I don't get my turn signal flash, I just listen for the locks to go.

An easy test is to sit in your car. Lock the doors. Open the door. Your alarm should go off.

My 97 850 has a tiny switch in front of the hood switch. I can turn the siren off with this switch. I think the siren is at the trunk area.

The horn for the 850 is under the hood mounted by the firewall next to the upper engine mount.

I can't speak to Wing's switch but on the OEM version the "switch(s)"are in the door locks. As Tech said, the OEM horn is on the firewall more or less centered on the car. It is round and about the same diameter as a soup can. The center nut on that horn often works its way loose and the horn will not work, your neighbors are thankful, but if you want the horn to work try to tightenits center nut.

Can someone tell me how to post with photos so I can show you the switch I mean. AS I just purchased the car from my friend, I don,t know if the switch is aftermarket or not. I played with it once and it silent the alarm. The lock still works.

Uh, Wing, no offense, but that switch sort of looks like someone (most likely your friend that fled back to HKG) has put it there as an aftermarket alarm. Looks like the switch came from AutoZone and does not have the Volvo quality to it.....

Looks like a valet switch for an aftermarket alarm system.
