1994 850 Clutch not releasing.
The clutch does not diengage all the time. I have to push the pedal all the way to the floor. The transmission will either grind or clunk into gear. I have bleed the system. I will be replacing the clutch this weekend, the throw-out bearing is grinding and the clutch is grabbing. The car has 200,00 miles on it. The clutch has never been changed. I don;'t think replaceing the clutch will fix the disengaging problem, could it be the master or slave cylinder.
Thanks

RE: 1994 850 Clutch not releasing.
I pulled the trans today, the clutch looks like it would last another 50k miles. The throw-out bearing was in pieces, the plastic was melted. New clutch and throw-out bearing should fix my problems. Be carefull with instructions in Haynes manuals, they leave a lot out.

RE: 1994 850 Clutch not releasing.
Hi I had the same problem (clutch almost worn out and melted throw out bearing) and I replaced the clutch and release bearing, slave cylinder, andmaster cylinder all myself. However now all put back together the slave cylinder does not puch the fork which pushes the release bearing in far enough. My mechanic guesses I installed the bearing in the wrong way. I was wondering if you can tell me if it is possible to do this because the fork slid through the clips and appeared to look fine. could you also if possible send a picture looking from the top at the slave cylinder and fork. (One picture with the peddel pressed and one picture with the pedel depressed.) Thanks alot.
