Question 1994 850 Turbo Burning Oil and Kickdown switch

Hi guys, I just bought this car about a month ago. There was little work to do to it, I changed the wiring, plugs, distributor cap and plugs; all tune up stuff. It runs well, just it's burning oil. I drove about 500k and it goes from full to the low line. When I had the safety the guys at the dealership said that the turbo might have a leak and the oil is getting burned out of there? I don't know much about the turbo as I previously had the same year and 850 but not turbo.

Any advice? If I just keep putting oil in it would that do anything?

Also, I am getting a code for this guy
Kickdown switch circuit shorted to earth

From research this is for overdrive and when I punch it. Nothing seems to feel weird.

I appreciate any feedback. Thanks a ton

Hey Steve, welcome to the forum.

The only other way to know if the turbo is leaking or the motor is worn, burning oil pass the pistons is to do a compression test. Chances are, the turbo is leaking.

How many miles/km on the car? I know you didn't drive 500,000 miles so I assume you mean 500 km.

How many miles are on the car?
How does it smoke?
Does it have a big puff of smoke when you first start it and then smokes at Idle?
or does it Pour out smoke when your in boost?

Sounds like either your PCV is clogged ant your dumping oil into the cold side of your turbo, or more than likely your valve seals are bad.

Either way its an easy fix.

But do a wet compression test first, and post your numbers.
