Default 1995 850 wagon GLT

New owner, and new to this site.

here's the issue. My car is leaking oil from the top part of the engine. I took it to my friends garage today and he mentioned that there was too much pressure coming out of the oil cap. her mentioned that it could be the PVC (the hose that returns to the air intake for oil fumes to be recycled).

I then proceded to the parts store where I was told that infact there were no listings for said part

Any ideas?

Look here and you will find what you need. Not sure what engine you have.

Not an uncommon problem if your car's PCV system has neverbeen serviced. Will require some elbow grease and there are a few great posts with pics, if not here then on Volvospeed, which will guide you step by step. If you leave it long enough you can blow an oil seal somewhere due to the pressure, which will be more costly, especially, God help you, if it's the rear main.

Hi,

As JimKW has already noted, let us know what engine you have (Turbo, Non-turbo), as they use different PCV systems (I believe non-turbo also have different systems IAW the VIN). FCP Groton is a good place for 850 parts, and I would also order oil filler cap gasket & dipstick O-ring for oil & transmission dipsticks.

Good luck,

I posted this over at VS and I certainly don't mean to thread jack but....

If I took off the intake manifold and am taking everything off, would it be worth it to port and polish it while it's out? And would a total newb like me be able to do it correctly? I've never done it before, and I would HATE if I ruined my car doing it.

I'm told that for porting and polishing, it's best to do it at a shop because if you don't do it right, you throw off the airflow and your engine can run all out of whack?

And to do this job, it's just sand paper and a dremel right?

Edit: I found this Porting Guide.
http://volvospeed.com/Mods/porting_intake_manifold.html

What's the air compressor for?

Double Edit: Would porting just the intake manifold do anything, or would I also have to do the head too?
