Default 1995 Volvo 850 ABS

Hi all,

As the title states, I have a 95 850 with an ABS issue. This model has the diagnostics lights in the engine bay as well as a OBD2 port in the car.

I currently have 11 codes in the following order.

411 Left front wheel inlet valve, open/short
412 Left front wheel return valve, open/short
413 Right front wheel inlet valve, open/short
414 Right front wheel return valve, open/short
422 Rear wheel return valve circuit, open/short
444 No power supply to valves in hydraulic unit
312 Right front wheel sensor. open/short
322 Right front wheel sensor, irregular >40 km/h
141 Faulty pedal sensor, shorted to ground or supply
142 Faulty brake pedal switch, open or short
411 Left front wheel inlet valve, open/short

I am having a hard time diagnosing this for a number of reasons, including I can't clear them to see what ones return. The standard code clearing procedure for CEL light does not seem to work. Even disconnecting the battery overnight did not clear the codes.

This started after I replaced my AC evap and struts. The ABS light didn't come on immediately after the job but within a week. First it was intermittent, but now its contently on. Also, when it was intermittently coming on the ABS would kick in on dry pavement when not needed.

I contacted someone who rebuilds ABS modules but he suggested that 1995 ones are not repairable and he does not service them.

Any insight would be helpful.

I may be speaking to soon here but I think I fixed it.

1st. Waiting for the computer to cycle through all those codes is tedious. I went through them again and this time I was able to reset the codes. Somewhere online suggested that I only needed to hold the button for 7 seconds after cycling through all the codes. But I needed to hold the button a second time for 7 seconds as well. duh.

2nd. After clearing the codes 444 immediately came back up. Loss or no power to valves.

3rd. Fuses don't have to blow to go bad on an older car. I pulled all the ABS fuses and cleaned the contacts and sprayed some contact cleaner into the fuse box. I think some light corrosion on the fuse spades was restricting the current needed for the ABS unit.
