1996 N/A 850 GLT Stalling & CEL Issues
I bought a 1996 Volvo 850 GLT Non turbo from the auctions, found the previous owner on facebook and asked why he sold it to the auctions and was told that it stalls at idle and a shop wanted over 1k to diagnose a CEL. (Didn't tell me what code or what the problem was) The computer was cleared due to sitting for months in the auction lot/donation center without a battery. I bought it a battery and it fired up, albeit very horrible sounding it ran good. I found out it had no oil, quickly put oil in it and it sounds much better! The car didn't stall on me for the last few hours and then suddenly the car was stumbling at a low speed (press gas nothing happens) and it died. When it died it took a few tries to get it started again. It would crank and fart for a few seconds but regardless of the throttle it would not fire up. The 2nd or 3rd time it fired up and drove home normally. The only other time it stalled was when the engine was full throttle briefly and when the rpms came back down it just died. Didn't catch itself and idle, just died. Smooth needle going from 5 to 0. Also took about 3 tries to get started again. What could be causing this? Also it is throwing a P0410 code and I think it's because there are 2 vacuum lines going to a solenoid (i think) right in front of the distributor that don't have worm clamps and come off super easy. I will attach worm clamps and update. The last problem is that The speedometer/turn signals will not work unless I unlatch the tilt steering and move the steering wheel all the way up and latch super tight. The speedo will come back to life and I'll have turn signals. The car will also chime like I turned the key to the on position. Will chime about 5 times and stop. Strange. Any help? First time owning a volvo

could be a few different things ranging from the fuel pump relay or fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator etc or could be spark related. for the electric gremlins, I'd be checking out the ignition switch (what happens if you wiggle the key) or the multi function stalk... Sounds like a loose connection that gets pressed into place when you move the steering column to "bus driver" position.
