1996 Volvo 850 Engine Wiring Harness
Trying to figure out what years/models have an interchangeable Main Engine Wiring Harness with the 1996 Volvo 850 Wagon non-Turbo, automatic transmission?
Thank you!
Thank you!
My guess is 93 to 95 and 96 to 98 are the same but the best way to tell is to research the OEM part number. Reason for the break in 95/96 is that's when Volvo went from OBD1 to OBD2. The 98 S/V models share the 850s design and the 99s may as well. In 2000, volvo made lots of wiring changes including going to the ETM drive by wire design and single coil per cylinder. Also keep in mind there's probably more than one harness in there...
Nothing is the same as anything else. That's the real answer. There isn't really an engine wiring harness. If you start trying to pull that harness out, you'll see that you can't get it loose where you'd expect to. They used at least 3 different powertrain control systems. The pinout for turbo is different from non-turbo. Turbos went OBDII in 1994. A bunch of relays got revised, reshaped, and repositioned in 97. it's ugly. A 96 non-turbo automatic would be a unique harness in my opinion. FWIW. I admit here I don't know what part of the car you're trying to actually repair.
Whatever you are trying to do, I think you'll have to do it without replacing the "engine harness" anyway, because it just doesn't separate like you'd want..
