I was parking on a steep hill and giving it gas (in reverse) and getting nothing. So I gave it more gas, there was a little delay and the car rolled forward a little bit, then the gear engaged and made a bad noise.. Now there is no reverse gear. Is this definitely a transmission problem? Would it do any good to try changing the trans fluid?

 

No. Get rid of it.
