I was just wondering if I should change my trans fluid as it is black in color?? Trans starts to shift hard when warmed up, but not all the time! I called a volvo dealership and they said not too with the mileage on it (234,000) as the trans might not shift at all afterwards! This car has been the most reliable I have ever owned!!! I hate to see it go...PLEASE HELP!!!!

 

That's a tough question believe it or not. Whatever you do, do NOT flush the transmission. If you do anything just do a drain and fill two or three times. When you drain it you get about 1/3 of the fluid out. Then refill it and start the car up and go through the gears a few time with the front wheels off the ground. Then drain and refill again. Do this until the fluid starts to look red. Make sure you use the right type of fluid. It uses Dexfon III.
