Default 1997 glt LPT vs t-5

I was wondering if there are any major structural differences between the t-5 and the lpt in the 97 glts. If the engines have the same compression ratios and heads, could you built the lpt as if it were a t5? has anyone done this?

12 views and no one responded. I have heard the engines are slightly different 2.4 liter vs 2.3 liter but from what I understand a simple ECU change will get you the same HP as the Higher pressure turbo in the T5. Someone chime in please...

I suspect this has been covered before in other threads so I would imagine someone will chime in with..."do a search"!!

yea i figured someone would have asked this too, did a quick search of lpt, nothing came up. So the only diff you know of, is the displacement by a tenth of a liter?

Im looking for anything significant structurally, particularly with the block/head and tranny

well if the motor is the 2.4 its gonna be like the N/A motor, which probably means that it does not have the piston cooling jets that the turbo has. thats one main thing I can think of off the top of my head. Not sure if it has the external oil cooler and trans cooler in the radiator like the turbo has either.

Not sure if this applies to the 850's but the S70 has a different torque range. It's effective at a much lower rpm. Makes it a little quicker off the line. Also, to me, it has a lot less turbo lag. It's a lot easier to spin tires at start.
