Default 1997 volvo 850 tubro Not starting

Its been Cold for the last couple of week. -30c. My Volvo 850 awd has had no problem starting in the cold until today. I drive it daily and it always starts right up.

Today I go to start it, it turns over and half *** fires. It just won't catch.

So I reach for my extra fuel pump relays and swap it out with no luck. From there i check my fuel pump Its getting 11.78v and its turning on and running. I am also getting fuel at the rail. I am also getting fuel in the cylinders

I checked that I am getting Spark on all 5 wires.

I also checked my compression 120 across the board, which is low but its fairly cold so its understandable.

I am lost, It fires but not enough to do anythings. Em I missing something. All Help Is appreciated.

Thanks

Maybe you can get it started with starter fluid. Maybe you have a bad coolant temp sensor. If you are getting fuel and spark, the air mix may be low. If you are not getting fuel into the cylinders you may have a bad fuel injector relay.

I tried the starting fluid with no luck. Is there anything like a sensor that would be able to throw starting off?

I ran into this when I was wrapping up my manual swap. Definitely swap out your cam sensor if you have a known good spare. Also look into testing the crank sensor, that could also hold you up.

I can try changing the cam sensor. I was thinking if the cam sensor was bad, that would mean I would have not spark. I will try to get a hold of one this week.

I read about "lawnmower syndrome" tried the oil in the cylinders, and was able to start it with all my injectors unplugged, and using starting fluid.

Also noticed my top intercooler hose was being sucked in which was not allowing a proper amount of air to get in.

its been running fine for the last two days. No problems

OR ... you have a frozen up intercooler or a turbo that isn't spinning. I'm sure you've changed out the air filter so it's not THAT restricted.
Loosen up the hose where it's collapsed and take it off the pipe or intercooler and see if it will start with it open ???

I had forgot what "Lawn Mower Syndrome" was

That sure looks like an intercooler icing issue.
