Default 50KM away from hitting 200K KM!!!

Hi guys..how are you? it's kinda cool...probably tomorrow i will hit the 200K KM mark! I just picked up my wagon last summer with about 173K Km on the clock...Is there anything i should look out for at this stage? i know i'll have to do the timing belt soon..other then that?
The car still drives very well, starts first shot. I'm always surprised at how smooth she drives and how well the car pulls through each gear.take care.ciao

For us metrically challenged in the states that's about 124K miles; heck that's barely broke in!

Just follow your owner's manual guidelines; timing belt is obviously the big one to keep an eye on. If this is the 2nd timing belt (should be..), then replace the pulleys too; H2O pump while you're at it, unless you just recently did it.

Good luck!

Hi there GDOG...i will chang the t-belt and the other ones too..for good measure. As for the pulleys, is that based upon inspection (if needed).. as well i head that the water pumps on these cars are quite tough and should be changed only if leaking...is this true? thanks

did my belt at 180klm, pump was starting to leak.
also did all the pullys, so much quieter now.
i think its better to do the lot in one go.
no wondering 'will it go soon ?"

Replacing the pulleys is just a good idea at that mileage. When i changed mine at 140K miles i could tell the old ones still worked but they felt like the grease inside was dried up and hard; spun much harder than the new ones.

BTW: I would be wary of timing belt pulleys from FCP; I am not the only one who has had problems with their timing belt pulleys...

Regarding replacing the H2O pump with timing belt: everyone has their own opinion but here's my take; to do the H2O pump, you have to R+R the timing belt anyway; i.e. it only costs you the price of the pump (and some coolant..) and a little more labor to replace it while you're in there doing the timing belt. So it's cheap insurance. But like i said, if it's been replaced recently, you should be good.
