740 wheels on an 850

RWD offsets (20 or 25 mm) push the RWD wheels outward on a 850, i.e. towards the fender -- about 3/4" more closer to the fender. I really doubt it will rub. I am talking about speed bumps here, where the wheels are pushed up sharply.
More important is the load (pounds) that 185/65/15 tires can safely support. They probably are a 86 load factor versus a 91 load factor (OEM) tires.
If your 850 is driven empty you should be fine. If you load it up, the 185 tires will not be good enough.

1995 and on, the offset is the same for the 960 and 850 (+ 43 mm). Same wheels. I even used 17" Arrakis S80 wheels (48 mm offset) on my V90 without rubbing, although too close to the shock towers for my liking. I could have used a 5 mm spacer for piece of mind, but I do not like the larger wheels in the city for the wagon.
