Default 850 central locking, SRS light & Coolant change

Need advice on three things for 95' 850 Wagon GLT non-turbo
1. Central Locking: Front 4 door locks work fine. Problem is with the 5th door lock. When using the key in the front doors the 5th door lock does not operate. When using the key with the 5th door all the doors lock and unlock just the way they are supposed to. The remote keyless entry system is also not working. I need advice on what to look for as a problem, dealer wants to change the lock in the 5th door and charge about $250. I am very handy man and so need advice.

2. SRS light is ON: What should I check for or do I have no choice but to take it to a dealer?

3. During a recent oil change the guy told me that the coolant failed the test and therefore I should change it. Can I change it on my own and how?

It sounds like your 5th door lock is bad. They are not that hard to change out.I would advise when you get the door lock get the 8 clips for the 5th door panel.I would replace the clips while the panel is off.
As for the srs light you should have a shop look at it.They need to pull codes then check from there.Might be something simple or a bad air bag.
The coolant is easy to change.Jack up the drivers side.Climb under the drivers side front look up if your air guide is still on.There is a hole that you put a 13mm deep socket in and loosen some and the coolant will drain. If your air guide is missing there is a nipple you unscrew to drain the coolant you can't miss it.

Good luck

I called up a dealer for the lock and he confused me by asking if I wanted the whole lock mechanism or just the motor that might be bad. Anyway I can check what is bad before buying the complete locking mechanism.

This seems to be a dealer part?

Hi tech,

This is what the coolant report says:

1. Conv/Dexcool/Hybrid %Anti Freeze (50%) Freeze point (-34) Boiling point (265) - Standard OK

2. Dexcool/Hybrid pH - 5.0 & Below Failed

Do I need to change coolant? The color of coolant looks black/dark, not green (my assumption that it should be green, I could be totally wrong).

Maintenance book says that rarely should I need to change coolant.

Your advice will help.

Your lock motor is probaly just bad.And your coolant should be changed every 30,000 miles.Yes i would change it.

It's an old thread but to make this clear, a neutral PH is 7. This cooling system is reading 5 or less which means it's pretty acidic. Acid eats metal so yes you need to flush and fill.

If the coolant isn't to old you can also add a treatment which puts back in the additives that break down over time.
I toss a bottle in every two years if the vehicle isn't close to flushing.
