when I use key in drivers door central locking will not work on other doors. but if I use key in passengers door all the other doors including drivers door work ok.can somebody help with where to start looking for fault.eg, door handle key lock or latch unit? thank you

 

What year is your car and do you have a lock switch on the dash? The late '95 and on versions have a double locking system that only opens the driver's door unless you turn the key twice.

Lee it is a 1993 with no switch on dash.I have already removed drivers door trim.

 

I had similar trouble with the trunk lock on my 94 850. The document in the link details how to troubleshoot the central locking system and has a wiring diagram. My trunk lock turned out to have a bad actuator, a little luck an $8 at my local pull-a-part and the problem was solved.

With the wiring diagram the system is pretty easy to troubleshoot with a meter.

I had the same trouble with my rear hatch but the actuator was fine but did not have the Umph to push the latch all the way so the system would not lock. To solve it I added an aftermaket actuator in conjunction with the stock for extra Umph. No problems since.
