Default 850 diesel

Hello

i'm interested in buying an 850 diesel and was wondering if anyone had the official fuel consumption figures available from a brochure etc?

I've currently got a 440 diesel which gets 45-50mpg in town and 60-70mpg on the motorway. Volvo's official figures for town and extra urban are close to the figures I get after driving the car for over a year now

I'd like to compare to the 850 before deciding to get one.

Anyone know of any concerns with that engine? I know its a VW/Volvo co-developed engine. the straight 6 VW diesel used in the 740 and 940 is prone to headgaskets but what's the 5 cylinder like?

Does this car use the Volvo M56 manual for the diesel too?

Does it use a Bosch fuel pump?

look forward to hearing from you

Shimon

Hello Shimon,

Rudolf-powered850s were not available to the U.S/Japanese versions so I cannot help in this case. Wait till U.K members reply to you.

Good luck,

JPN

I have not heard of an oil burning 850, even in Europe

The first one I picked has (96 854 2.5TDi),

Fuel Economy: Urban 39.2mpg
Fuel Economy: Extra Urban 48.0mpg
Fuel Economy: Combined 44.4mpg

However as this is a UK site these will be UK gallons and not US gallons (ie the mpg figures will be higher than in the US as a UK gallon is bigger than a US gallon)

Got to love google.
