Default I think I'm going to cry...96 850T wont start...again

I'm not afraid to put this out there but I'm at the end of my rope. I loved my volvo and I now hate it and its killing me.

Here is a link to my old thread about my old problem..http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/cha...amp;highlight=

Sigh....
To recap
My car started to accelerate on its own one day. It would maintain 55mph with the cruise off and my foot no where near the gas pedal. Crazy I know. Imagine trying to stop at a light.

It would do this off and on until I decided to unplug the IAC. The car idled a lil low but ran fine. I could drive it for a few days with the IAC disconnected and it would eventually give me an attitude until i plugged it back up.

*Upon reconnecting the auto acceleration problem would return. I went to a local boneyard and picked up 4 (yes FOUR) IAC's and the auto drive problem came back. Although it is possible I find it very unlikely that 5 IAC's are faulty.

During this whole replacement process she sometimes wouldn't start w/o assistance. It would take so long to turn over I would need to jump cuz my battery would run down.

After a while the car would start and run fine but only with the IAC wire disconnected. Weird.

So here I sit. Stranded at my parents house because my car wont turn start. I have plenty of gas, wires are good, I'm throwing a code but more than likely thats from my disconnecting the IAC.

I can only think that its the TPS now but I dont have tons of money to toss at everything i "think it is" please guys.
I'm at teh end of my rope here and I dont know what to do.

Why wont my car start and run correctly?[]

Hey now,

Sorry to hear about your trouble .

What is the code that you have?

All the info that you can provide allows others to help you better. Isn't that why we're all here?

Post what you can and I'll see if I can help you with it. If not, with more info, I'm sure that someone here can .

It is almost sure that the idle control system is in trouble. I wouldn't crank it for so long & often, you may fry the starter, which would add another item on your bill.

Check:

- Throttle Position Sensor.
- MAF Sensor.
- Vacuum leak, especially from the plastic elbows.
- Visually inspect throttle cable by removing the plastic cover held by one Torx (Although this one is probably not a cause, checking it only takes 5 minutes).

See attached. You can fabricate a home-made OBD-II-to-OBD-I converter, but the 2 pages seem to conflict as to which pin is used for the fuel control system.

Also wait for other members' replies.

Hey now,

I think that I might have the same issue with the throttle position sensor.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago, out of the corner of my eye, the RPM guage jump up and then back to position.

I didn't have my foot on the gas and this surprised me.

I'm still new to this, but catch on quickly, and I'm thinking the TP sensor.[&o]

Input from others is appreciated.

Also, Istalled out today and I'm thinking this is because my fan isn't working properly and that I may have over heated and this shut down the car ? As I say, I'm still learning, but I'm a quick study [sm=devilgrin.gif].

Anyway's, I'll be back sometime this weekend with, hopefully, some pic's of the trim, bumpers and flaps painting effort . Going black.
