850 Engine sputtering and sulfur smell
Hey guys,
My 96 850 turbo (103k miles) has been acting a little strange lately, sometimes the engine will sputter for a bit when I turn it on, but eventually smooth out. Today I decided it was time for an oil change and a new filter and maybe that would fix my problem. As I turned the car on after the change the engine began to sputter pretty violently and it immediately threw a check engine light. I let it idle for a few minutes and it did not smooth out at all. I tried to drive it a bit and it couldn't go above about 15 mph without getting extremely violent. There is a smell coming out of the engine bay/exhaust that smells almost like burning sulfur. I have no idea what could of went wrong, and the oil change was all done properly and filled to the correct levels. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

misfires isn't going to cause sulfur smell. You said you have a CEL, have you pulled the codes yet? That will tell you what's wrong. If your cat is clogged, like it does and cause sulfur smells, you'll get a CEL for a rear O2, if it's misfires, you'll get a CEL for misfires.
Pull the codes, then report back.
