850 head removal
I have a '94 850 Turbo that is overheating, but only under load. I suspect the head gasket is shot. Nobody wants to touch it. The two places I have taken it to want to replace the engine. How involved is it to pull the head? I have done this on other cars, most recently on my '64 Austin Mini, so I am not afraid to dive in. Any advice would be appreciated.
It is possible to do that job without the Volvo special tools however I would not recommend it. That engine is an interference motor and will do severe damage if you don't put it together correctly and in the right order.
Yes you should use volvo special tools if you really want to do it you can purchase the tools from volvo to do it your self.I cant believe that no one wants to touch it!!Those engines are cake to work on if you have mech. experience.Good luck
