Default 850 nonturbo dies at highway speed

My 95 non turbo 850 will randomly die at highway speeds. After sitting for about 1 min it will start & run fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a few bouts of that with a bad cam sensor. It might set a code if that is the problem.

Check fuel pressure and the fuel pump relay. Also try changing the fuel filter for starters

I set a fuel pump relay jumper during my troubleshooting phase. My DD was also a 95 non-turbo. My car is a 5-speed, so if it quit on the highway, I could give it a really long time to recover, but there were plenty of times it wouldn't restart until "later".

Mine has the older code reader where you move a wire into different plug ins. Not showing any codes

It might happen maybe once a month & will start back up 1 min or so later. I could be wrong but I thought that maybe if it was electronic it would either work or not. But I'm not very electronically inclined

I agree with you. I am just saying my cam sensor went through a phase where it would die and restart, and it turned out that was definitely the problem. However, it didn't take all that long to get worse. I didn't drive it 2 years like that. Good advice above about the fuel pressure too. If this thing only conks out once a month, that might be tough to diagnose.

Dying fuel pump will give the same symptoms.
