850 T-5 Wagon Headlight Issue (97)
I am new to this site. This is my third Volvo. I have this 97 Volvo that I voluntarilyrepossessed for Volvo Finance of North America in 2002. It was part of an estate. This was in a garage of a home and the wife advised that a short time after they bought it, the owner got sick and later passed away. This car had 7,900 original miles on it and still had the plastic on the floor and the sticker in the glove box. I bought this car for next to nothing, including my fees and storage. I love this car as it is my first T-5 wagon. I now have 64,000 miles on it and the r/sheadlight low beam went out. The dash light was on. I went to replace the bulb with Pia Halogens and the wires inside the light box (behind the black round disc) that the bulb plugs into were all cracked and frayed (BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT).I think they arced but not sure. I tested the wires and the harness has power to where it plugs into the base of the headlight frame. There is no power coming from there to the bulb base plug. I heard that it is self grounding. Do I need to replace the entire headlight housing ($ 400.00). I tried plastic wire coating and that did not work; what should I do? Also the fog light wires are hot but the car has no fog lights, can I add them? Thanks
I have taken the headlights all the way apart including the connectors and slid heatshrink over them and shrunk it and all was fine.
As soon as I find lights I will be adding Fogs on my car as well.
I already have the switch and one light.
I believe there is a relay and fuse that has to be added and all will work.
