850-T5 SMOKING WHEN IDLE
hello to everyone,
i have two problems causing me great concern, the first is on my t5 when the engine is left to idle for longer than usual and then pull away a cloud of smoke can be seen from the exhaust pipe. this doesnt happen everytime some days it won't do it at all.
i seem to spend more time looking in my rear view mirror than the wind shield lately as i'm getting very aware of it,but the annoying thing is i never know when it's going to produce this big cloud of smoke.
and the other thing is a tapping comming from top of engine more noticable at idle speed i've changed the oil twice and filter in the space of four weeks but the tapping persists.
any help on these problems welcomed.

RE: 850-T5 SMOKING WHEN IDLE
hi, and thanks for the replies, i'll check breathers etcregarding the smoke fault i have, is it possible the turbo faulty? i have to stress the smoke problem isn't always there and i never know when it's going to happen.
there seems to be a trend looking at related threads they all seem to smoke more at idle.
could this be the engine is allowed to get hotter than usual before the fan cut's in? i can idle at traffic lights for say 2 minutes and when i move away no smoke is seen.
but i wager if it was more than that it would smoke.
as far as the engine tapping i noted that when started from cold no tapping but after say a minute the tap starts, the tapping is comming from the same areaunder the rocker cover sugesting it's only one lifter with the fault. i'll keep all informed of any remedies, and any useful comments gratefuly recieved,
