hello all.
is there a way to keep my engine/coolant temp slightly lower,can the fan be made to cut in earlier i want temp to run slightly cooler than normal.
a strange request but here's why.
iv'e been having problems with clouds of blue smoke when engine idle's for longer than usual. the car will run fine all day everyday while ever it's in motion taking in outside air to cool it.
(no smoke) but let it idle for too long and greenpeace would be after me,
i've noticed if she runs at just under normal temp everything is fine.
and to prove this i took car in my workshop and let it idle for at least 15minutes absolutely no smoke. (engine temp just belownormal)
so i hooked up an electric fan and stood it in front of car switched in on and let engine idle for at least another 40 minutes (no smoke at all) lifting engine revs a few times after that didn't produce any smoke either.
the temp guage reading only very slight below normal temp but sufficient to stop the smoke problem.
any idea's
basicly engine temp just abovehalfway clouds of smoke at idle
engine temp just below no smoke at all.
i'm in the U.K so air temp here shouldn't be a great factor niether too hot or too cold but always wet wet wet.
c'mon guys help me out please.

 

Have you checked your Thermostat...to make sure you are getting good circulation through the engine...?
